Cisco Offers New Certifications to Security Professionals
Cisco introduced a new certification of experts – Security Specialist –
highlighting users who have reached a certain level of competence, which
is extremely important and meets the requirements of a specialist in network
security.
The increasing complexity of network security services due to
mobility, social networks, voice and video, visualization, cloud
data processing, as well as physical security and security
requirements require more specialization and advanced skills in working with products that
make it easier to solve these difficulties such as virtual private networks,
firewalls, authentication and intrusion prevention.
According to the latest Cisco CCIE survey, security and
risk management will be the most sought after networking skills in enterprises
over the next five years.
Cisco recently expanded its Security Portfolio to include
CCNP Security’s career certification program, which responds to the
growing demand for security engineers.
The Cisco Security Specialist certification complements this acclaimed
certification program with a focus on assessing skills in important
products and technologies. The new certification gives students the opportunity to
earn a reputation while working to obtain a
professional certificate. The program may also function as
part of a continuing education plan, including continuing education or
recertification.
New Security Specialist Certifications
The Cisco Firewall Security Specialist certifies security professionals
with the skills to create, deploy, and support
Cisco security tools using
Cisco ASA Adaptive Security Appliances and zone-based firewalls.
The Cisco IOS Security Specialist certifies security professionals
who demonstrate the practical knowledge and skills
required to secure networks using the
Cisco IOS security features built into the latest Cisco routers and switches, as well as those widely
used in Cisco security applications.
The Cisco VPN Security Specialist certifies security professionals
with the skills and knowledge to configure,
maintain, troubleshoot, and support various VPNs
using Cisco IOS and Cisco ASA.
The Cisco Security Certification Portfolio now supports six key
Security Specialist certification technologies:

- Cisco NAC Specialist
- Cisco ASA Specialist
- Cisco IOS Security Specialist
